made to last

Focused on combining both form and function, we select our materials carefully taking into consideration factors such as weight, durability and maintenance. From washable necklaces to handbags with cushioned straps and ingeniously transforming handles, our designs aim to preserve significant cultural traditions while providing our customers with simple, practical pieces that can stand both the test of time and fashion.

polymers

A key factor in sustainability is durability and our products are designed to last. We’ve chosen to use several polymers which are lightweight, flexible, waterproof, and recyclable, providing our customers with high comfort and functionality without sacrificing aesthetics.

Neoprene is a durable, recyclable rubber compound usually used for industrial manufacturing. When recycled, it is often mixed with other synthetic rubbers to create new blends, giving it great potential for recycling and reuse. This recycled synthetic rubber is less expensive and easier to manufacture, making it less damaging to the environment than harvesting natural rubber.

Silicone is made from silica, a mineral found in earth’s crust, and it’s manufacturing does not involve mining for crude oil. It is highly durable and recyclable, it endures extreme temperature fluctuations without melting, cracking, or degrading, and it does not break down into micro-plastics making it ocean-friendly and less harmful than plastic.

PVC is one of the most widely used polymers in the world due to its versatile nature. It is most frequently made from salt and oil, however, in some regions, it is made with bio-derived oil substitutes. It is also highly durable and energy-efficient across a range of applications, making extremely effective use of raw materials.

merino wool felt

Virgin Merino wool felt is a renewable and environmentally friendly textile that has superior thermal insulating properties, is flame retardant, self-extinguishing, chemical and wear resistant. Furthermore, it is a highly resilient material able to withstand high levels of compression without deforming. Also, wool felt does not ravel or fray like leather and other materials traditionally used in handbag manufacture. This combination of qualities, in an array of beautiful colors, allow us to offer our customers a functional yet beautiful alternative.

recycled & upcycled fabric

We are currently producing a collection of one-of-a-kind pieces made from upcycled textile materials, and are also developing a new handbag collection made of custom-printed REPREVE textiles sublimated in Puerto Rico.

Upcycling is one of the design principles of circular fashion. It allows designers to creatively repurpose post-consumer materials, that would usually end up in landfills or incinerated, and use them to create higher-value products, that can be used by consumers, thus extending their life cycle.

REPREVE fabrics are branded performance textiles made from recycled materials, including plastic bottles. Compared to the making of virgin fiber, making REPREVE offsets using new petroleum, emitting fewer greenhouse gases and conserving water and energy in the process. Sublimation printing is amongst the most sustainable textile printing processes since it creates zero waste water and uses harmless water-based inks.
